Queenstown

Another trip over the Crown Range to Queenstown. This is a beautiful drive that looks different every day according to the light conditions.

First stop was to buy Tarun some new shorts. Seems he's lost some weight since he's been here and his shorts are too big. I can promise you the weight loss isn't because we are starving him ... it's more to do with his obsession with exercise.

For those of you reading this who aren't Kiwi's, Queenstown is the tourism capital of NZ  ... Which is the very reason we stayed in Wanaka and not there. It sure is very different to the Queenstown I remember from my youth .. They now have a car park building!!!

Ainsley and Tarun went on the luge. I think both had a lot of fun. Then we had to try the famous Fergburgers. Unbelievable .... there was a constant very long queue of people outside that shop for at least three hours at lunchtime. They were good though..... but not that good!

A walk around the park seemed like a good idea, but maybe the frisbee golf wasn't ... a lot more energetic than it looked.

On the way out of Queenstown we met up with Kevin who had just arrived. Tarun had met Kevin last September when he had done a trip in India with him and the plan was for Tarun to do a walk with him. I'm not quite sure if Kevin realises Taruns resemblance to a mountain goat but he'll sure find out soon.

We spent Wednesdsy in Queenstown. Tarun was up early to walk the Rob Roy so Ainsley and I chose the easier option of going out for breakfast and having a drive around the area.

Sounds like we made the better choice as Tarun came back looking and feeling rather tired. It sounds like this was the most challenging climb he'd done so far but said the view was worth it.

We spent the afternoon enjoying the activities at the resort. Ainsley taught Tarun how to play pétanque which including the obligatory bottle of wine.

Wanaka has a rather unique movie theatre which wanted to experience so we went to see 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople' in the evening.this is a very kiwi film ... Part of Taruns introduction to
NZ culture..
