Oamaru

The weather Gods are back on our side. We woke to a beautiful blue sky again .... cold but promising to warm up.
Baldwin Street ... The worlds steepest street was first on the agenda.... a good stop for my young exercise fanatic to get his first fix of the day. He climbed up and danced his way down.

As we drove into Palmerston we spotted a large cone shaped hill ...

Taruns second fix for the day!!! I dropped him off at the bottom and went to have my fix at the cafe back in the town. It must have been pretty windy though as Tarun said when he was trying to take a selfie his phone was flying.

Next stop was to see the Moeraki boulders. This time Taruns attempt at a handstand wasn't too successful.

Standing was an easier option.

Final destination was Oamaru and the first stop was to the information centre to find out where the highest hill was.

I once again dropped off the mountain goat and went to check out the historical area. This was a pleasant change from all the natural scenery we'd  been seeing for the last few weeks.

We were staying at a lovely place just south of the town and opposite the beach. The woman at the desk was a bit flabbergasted when Tarun asked about swimming. Unfortunately the sea was deemed to be dangerous here , but I'm not sure that he completely believed her.

Late afternoon we drove back into the town to try and see the Penguins but no luck... It got too dark to see them  so we gave up. However, we did see a great big sea lion sitting on the beach.

We spent the evening back in the lodge chatting to a couple of young Swiss travellers. I just loved it when Tarun finally admitted to them that after all his climbing his 'knees were speaking.'
